Wine Wednesday: Old West or Settler Era

Wine Wednesday: Old West or Settler Era

May 13, 2026, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

May’s theme is the Old West or Settler Era themes. Historical or more modern settings with old west/settler era feel.
Sage & Dragonfly’s bookclub, Wine Wednesday, is unusual in that we assign topics, not titles. We come together and talk about books we’ve read that relate to the topic. This way we find out about authors and titles we want to read, and get to discuss books we love (or hate).  We’ve recently re-opened membership as some of our group have moved away or have schedule conflicts. Come check us out while we have openings.  While you can read any book you like on the topic, we also offer suggestions so that we can still have a shared discussion.
  • Reading Suggestions:
    • The Chuckwagon Trail by William W. Johnstone (Iconic historical western)
    • Shadow Country by Peter Matthihessen: (Florida Settler era) Gritty epic focusing on E.J. Watson, a nortious outlaw in the turn-of-the-century Everglades.
